President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the ceremony launching new facilities and the start of construction of investment projects in Bukhara Region. This is reported by the presidential press service.

In total, a program of 145 projects with a total value of $7.8 billion has been formed. Of these, 55 projects worth $654 million are being commissioned, and construction is beginning on another 90 projects worth $7.1 billion.

The initiatives cover petrochemicals, the textile industry, mechanical engineering, energy, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, logistics and tourism. They involve investors from the United States, Canada, Germany, Japan, China, Turkey, the UAE and other countries, as well as international financial institutions and local entrepreneurs.

According to forecasts, the implementation of the projects will create more than 14,000 permanent jobs, establish annual production of goods worth 22 trillion soums, and ensure exports of $510 million.

Special attention is being paid to energy. Over the past few years, $2 billion has been invested in the development of renewable energy sources in the region. Wind power plants with a total capacity of 1,000 MW and solar plants with a capacity of 750 MW have already been commissioned here. Energy storage systems with a capacity of 63 MW have also been created.

Among the new initiatives is the construction of the «Bosh-2» wind power plant with a capacity of 300 MW in Gijduvan District with the participation of ACWA. In Jandar and Peshkun districts, Toyota Corporation and Sinoma are building wind power plants with a total capacity of 1,000 MW.

In Kagan District, it is planned to build a facility for generating electricity from household waste worth $165 million. Another project worth $150 million with the German company Leman provides for ensuring the stable operation of the pumping stations of the «Amu-Bukhara» canal.

In the textile industry, it is planned to build a complex in Bukhara under the Kurt Baver brand, designed to produce 62,000 tons of products annually. In Romitan District, with the participation of Chinese investors, a cotton-textile cluster worth $400 million is being created.

As part of these initiatives, investors also proposed developing 9,000 hectares of land. It is expected that this will increase the share of high value-added products to 65% and create additional export opportunities worth $100 million.

Another area will be the development of tourism infrastructure. In Bukhara, it is planned to implement 19 major projects with a total value of $3 billion. Among them is the construction of hotels under the international brands Indigo, Holiday Inn and Hilton.

On the territory of the new tourist center, where the ceremony took place, the «Baqiy Bukhoro» cultural and ethnographic park, an exhibition hall, hotels and entertainment facilities will be created. According to the president’s assessment, the development of tourism infrastructure will make it possible to raise Bukhara’s services exports to $5 billion.

Over the next five years, the authorities intend to provide the region’s residents with drinking water, and the major cities and district centers with sewerage networks. To this end, the implementation of two projects with a total value of $633 million has already begun. They will improve water supply for 2 million people, including providing 781,000 residents with drinking water for the first time.

In addition, seven road projects worth $565 million are planned in the region. Their implementation should triple the region’s transit potential.

During the trip, Mirziyoyev also heard reports on preparations of Bukhara’s infrastructure for international summits scheduled for 2027 and gave the relevant instructions.
