Import duties on materials and furniture parts will be reduced until 2029

As reported by Spot, on May 27 President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved support measures for the furniture and woodworking industries. Furniture production is planned to increase by 30% by 2028.

The decree provides for reducing customs duties to 1% on 14 product categories used in furniture production. This benefit is valid until January 1, 2029.

Reduced rates apply to the following raw materials, parts, and accessories:

Amendments to the Tax Code were ordered for importing furniture equipment without local equivalents. The VAT base will be calculated as the positive difference between purchase and sale prices.

Additionally, furniture manufacturers will receive compensation for part of the costs of implementing IT systems (CRM, ERP, PLM, etc.) for digitalisation. Maximum payout is $5000.

Short-term preparatory courses in the furniture and woodworking sector will be organized at vocational skill centres. Trade promotion fund covers 60% of training costs.
